Mardi Gras Part II: Krewe of Pre-K

Without a doubt, we saw THE MOST EXCITING parade of all this Mardi Gras -- it was the SAS Krewe of PreK! And, Katie and Ella were among the riders!
SAS is their school, Saint Andrew's. The Krewe or PreK included all three classes of preschoolers at SAS. The little ones rode in their homemade floats (wagons) while their 8th grade Big Buddy pulled them around the route. The route was 2 tows around the inside of the school gym with all 700 SAS school students on the inside of the loop and nearly as many parents lining up on the outside of the loop in the stands. The screams of the kids was deafening! Here are a few photos chronicling the big day!
The riders were allowed to stay home from school Friday morning to work on their floats. Because Mardi Gras coincided with Valentine's Day this year, the girls decided on a Valentine theme for their floats. Thanks to Paw Paw Bill (Starr's grandpa) and to WalMart, the girls each had a wagon to decorate.

Here, Katie is putting sparkly pink heart stickers on her float.

Ella hard at work on her float too.

Girls excitedly working on their floats.

Make up time! Mommy putting white face paint on Katie, who wanted to look like a princess.
As you can tell from her expression, she did NOT like it!

Loading up and heading to the parade route (school).
You can see Ella is getting excited, but mainly because she loves any excuse to wear lipstick! We ended up not using the white face paint and just going with lots and lots of eyeshadow, blush, eyeliner, and red, red lipstick.

Mimi (Bill's mom) was able to join us for the big event and snapped this shot of the girls lining up for the parade... Girls practicing their princess waves.

Here's Princess ELLA, eying her target....

and making a great TOSS!

Here comes beautiful Princess KATIE... where are her beads?

"I'm out of BEADS, MOMMY!"

they found her some more beads to throw, thank goodness!
Ella after all the parade excitement! 30-dozen pairs of beads thrown (each), and both girls had ear-to-ear smiles!!!
