My little pastry chefs decided it was time to make cupcakes. So we did. We decorated them with Spring colors in honor of the beautiful weather we've been having here and took a few to the neighbors. Great after school fun!

Trip to the Children's Museum

The girls were invited to a birthday party at the Children's Museum. What fun! We have been wanting to go and this was the perfect opportunity. Katie and Ella still don't know many kids from their classes, so they mainly played with each other. Thank goodness they are such great playmates! They had a blast!!

The girls wanted a photo with "Tiana's Castle", which is what they call the St. Louis Cathedral. Tiana is the princess from the latest Disney princess movie, The Princess and the Frog. There was a mock-up of the cathedral at the museum.

Mardi Gras Part III: Carnival Time!

It's Carnival Time! Another weekend full of parades....

First float... Daddy and Katie and Mommy and Ella see what kind of goodies we can get!

Mardi Gras Part II: Krewe of Pre-K

Without a doubt, we saw THE MOST EXCITING parade of all this Mardi Gras -- it was the SAS Krewe of PreK! And, Katie and Ella were among the riders!

SAS is their school, Saint Andrew's. The Krewe or PreK included all three classes of preschoolers at SAS. The little ones rode in their homemade floats (wagons) while their 8th grade Big Buddy pulled them around the route. The route was 2 tows around the inside of the school gym with all 700 SAS school students on the inside of the loop and nearly as many parents lining up on the outside of the loop in the stands. The screams of the kids was deafening! Here are a few photos chronicling the big day!

The riders were allowed to stay home from school Friday morning to work on their floats. Because Mardi Gras coincided with Valentine's Day this year, the girls decided on a Valentine theme for their floats. Thanks to Paw Paw Bill (Starr's grandpa) and to WalMart, the girls each had a wagon to decorate.

You can see Ella is getting excited, but mainly because she loves any excuse to wear lipstick! We ended up not using the white face paint and just going with lots and lots of eyeshadow, blush, eyeliner, and red, red lipstick.

Mardi Gras Part I: The First Weekend

It's the first weekend of Mardi Gras, which means PARADE TIME!!!! Parades happen all around the city. For us, this weekend is mainly about the neighborhood parades. First, on the West Bank is the Krewe of Cleopatra Friday night, then Choctaw, Adonis, and Alla Saturday. Then two Uptown parades on Sunday, Krewe of Carolton and the Knights of King Author. Yes, you read that correctly -- 6 parades in one weekend! At that's just the warm-up for Mardi Gras! Below are a few snapshots of our parading...

Our Trip to Baton Rouge

We took a little trip to Baton Rouge recently and a busy, fun-filled weekend. We started off the weekend with LSU Gymnastics and ended with a cousin's birthday party. Here are a few photos capturing all the fun...

Time for Chase's birthday party at the greatest bouncy house EVER -- WHAT FUN!! Here, the girls are with their most favorite cousin so far, Starr. She's about 10 and loves playing "big sis" to the little girls. It's so sweet the way she looks after them (and such a nice break for mom & dad)!
