No photos on this post today... just wanted to jot something down so I'll be able to cherish this memory.
Bill and I were getting dressed for a small, holiday party at a neighbor's house. I decided to wear a simple black dress -- nothing fancy, just something I picked up at Target. Katie and Ella were so excited to help me get dressed. I asked them to help me pick out a pin to wear -- they both decided the sparkly (fake) diamond broach was the best choice. Then, it was time for shoes. Katie decided the black shoes with the "bows and the ripples" (little pleats) were the best.
Next it was time to pick out a purse. Katie asked, "Why do you need a purse, Momma?" "A girl always needs a place to put her lipstick!" I replied. "You can wear my red lipstick!!" and she jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom to retrieve it. It was the bright, BRIGHT! red lipstick I bought for .99 cents at CVS for Halloween. She couldn't wait for me to put it on, but we hadn't quite decided on the purse. Ella finally concluded that the silver purse was the best because it matched my broach.
It was time to put on the lipstick... I did my best to get out of it; red is really not my color you know! But, the girls were insistent and I couldn't let them down. They LOVED it and immediatley told me how beautiful I looked! It was then that Katie realized I was missing something. "Mommy, " she said " you need those grown-up tights on your legs. That will make you the most beautiful-est!". Being from the South I said, "Panty hose?", not the more elegant word, stockings. "Yes, Momma. You need panty hose!" So, off I went in search of panty hose. Thankfully I found a black pair with no runs at the bottom of one of my drawers. As I was putting them on I heard the girls telling Bill, "You are not going to believe how beautiful Mommy is... She is the beautiful-est EVER!"
As we were leaving for the party I said, "You all are making me feel like a princess tonight." They assured me that I was as beautiful as a Queen!
Ahhhhh... so very, very sweet. Withouth a doubt, I felt like the most beautiful woman in the room that evening... and the luckiest mommy ever to have such wonderful little girls that adore me so much. My little angels, know this: I adore you.
